The three-member committee constituted for rehabilitation and permanent livelihood of families affected by the Dharali disaster in Uttarkashi district has prepared the final report. The committee can submit its report to the government on Monday. The committee has recommended rehabilitation and relief package for disaster-affected families on the lines of Jyotirmath.
A terrible disaster struck Dharali on August 5. The flood in Kheerganga had engulfed Dharali village in debris. On the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, a three-member committee was constituted under the chairmanship of Secretary Revenue Dr. Surendra Narayan Pandey for rehabilitation and permanent livelihood of the affected families. UCADA CEO Dr. Ashish Chauhan and Additional Secretary Finance Himanshu Khurana are members of the committee.
Assessed 115 families to be affected by the disaster
The committee studied the rehabilitation and relief package of families affected by the land subsidence in Jyotirmath in 2023. On this basis, it has given its recommendation for rehabilitation and livelihood of the Dharali disaster affected. The committee has estimated that 115 families have been affected by the disaster. Based on the committee’s report, the state government will prepare a long-term plan for the disaster-hit Dharali. The committee members also took suggestions from the affected families, public representatives and district administration officials. The affected suggested to settle them in Jangla, Lanka and Kopang.
The state government had given the affected people of Jyotirmath the option of one-time settlement in lieu of the damage to land and buildings, along with house for house and land for land, maximum 100 square meters for building a house, and construction of a duplex building in an area of โโmaximum 75 square meters at the place marked for rehabilitation.
