Dehradun: NDRF’s cadaver dogs (body search dogs) gave signals by sniffing at eight places at ground zero in Dharali. When digging started here, water came out from below, due to which the work had to be stopped there. Now ground zero is being scanned with ground penetrating radar (GPR). Buildings buried in the debris will be searched with the waves of this radar. After this, digging will be done at the place from where signals are received in the right direction.
In fact, the work of evacuating people trapped in the disaster-hit area in Dharali is almost complete. Now the police and other agencies have started searching for bodies there in the second phase. For this, NDRF had deployed two cadaver dogs there in the beginning itself. The search operation is being carried out continuously with the help of these dogs.
Search started by dividing into different sectors
These dogs had sniffed and indicated at a total of eight places on Sunday. When NDRF dug here, water started coming out from under the debris. In such a situation, NDRF had to stop digging there. Apart from this, based on information from the local people, NDRF also dug at the place where people were seen running in the video.
Here also, not much digging could be done due to water. DIG NDRF Gambhir Singh Chauhan said that scanning is being done with GPS here. This is a device that works on radar waves. With this, the structure inside the ground is detected. For example, if there are signs of a house or any other building somewhere, then digging will be done at that exact place.
This will save time and work can be done easily there. NDRF has started the search by dividing the entire area into different sectors. Even bigger machines are facing difficulty in reaching here, so digging has to be done manually.
