New Delhi: The Delhi Government Cabinet has decided to include Veerangna Jhalkari Bai Koli in the ‘Scheme for Celebrating Birth and Death Anniversaries of Eminent Personalities’. The proposal was approved at a cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister. Cabinet ministers and senior officials from various departments were also present. This scheme already includes eminent personalities such as Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, Sant Shri Ravidas, Maharishi Valmiki, Sant Kabir, Sant Shri Gadge Ji Maharaj, and Sant Shri Durbal Nath.
The Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/OBC Welfare Department already provided financial assistance for the celebration of birth and death anniversaries of the above-mentioned personalities. Now, Jhalkari Bai Koli has also been included in this scheme. The Chief Minister said that Veerangna Jhalkari Bai Koli is a symbol of the indomitable saga of bravery of the Indian freedom struggle. The Delhi Government’s inclusion in this scheme is an important step towards honoring her contribution. Under this scheme, registered non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are provided assistance to celebrate the birth or death anniversaries of these eminent personalities. A maximum financial assistance of Rs. 50,000 has been set aside for each event. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the Delhi Government is committed to honoring the glorious traditions of every section of society. The Chief Minister said that the inclusion of Veerangna Jhalkari Bai Koli in this scheme is not merely an administrative decision but a step that strengthens the spirit of social justice and equality. She said that the capital Delhi is a symbol of diversity and the government wants to ensure that the cultural heritage of every society receives equal importance when celebrating the birth and death anniversaries of all great saints, social reformers, and brave women. The Chief Minister also stated that several organizations from Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes had long demanded that the birth anniversary of warrior Jhalkari Bai Koli be included in the scheme.
