Anantnag (Jammu and Kashmir): A team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) officials is conducting searches in the forest area of Anantnag district in Jammu and Kashmir in connection with the November 10 Delhi blast case, officials said on Tuesday.
They said the NIA officials, with the help of police and CRPF, brought along two accused, Dr. Adil Rather and Jaseer Bilal Wani, who were arrested in connection with a “white-collar” terror module busted by the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
PTI reported this, citing officials. According to the officials, the two accused had informed investigators about some locations in the Mattan forest area of the south Kashmir district.
This new development comes a day after a Delhi court on Monday extended the NIA custody of Dr. Rather and three other doctors, including a preacher, arrested in connection with the Red Fort blast case, by four days.
All four accused – Dr. Muzammil Ganai, Dr. Adil Rather, Dr. Shahina Saeed, and cleric Irfan Ahmad Wage – were produced before Principal and Sessions Judge Anju Bajaj Chandna after their 10-day NIA custody, which began on November 29, ended.
Media personnel were reportedly prevented from covering the court proceedings, which took place under tight security at and around the Patiala House District Court complex.
So far, the NIA has made seven arrests in this case, which is linked to a ‘white-collar’ terror module. The agency had earlier said in a statement, “The agency is pursuing various leads in connection with the suicide bombing and is conducting searches in various states in coordination with the concerned police forces to identify and track down other individuals involved in this heinous attack.” Dr. Umar-un-Nabi was driving the i20 car laden with explosives that detonated outside the Red Fort on November 10, killing 15 people and injuring several others.
