Dehradun: Uttarakhand STF arrested those who created a fake app in the online platform of the city’s prestigious school and sent misleading messages to parents from Bareilly. The accused created the SchoolPad interface and hacked the original platform and spread misleading messages related to fee payment through WhatsApp. The accused had deceived the parents by sending fake messages in the name of AI enabled Robotics Lab amounting to Rs 4990.
The prestigious school of Dehradun city had lodged a complaint in July 2025 that there has been serious cyber bullying and hacking in the student-related app of the school. Misleading messages are being sent to the students. The online platform of the school is School Pad, which is used by students and parents to see school updates daily, know the time table and deposit school fees etc. An unknown person entered without permission and leaked information like student names, contact details including login data and the hacker gained access to the student data of all three branches of the school, DIS City Campus, DIS Riverside and DIS Mohali.
They sent a fake message to students and parents through the School Pad system, asking them to deposit an amount of Rs 4990 for an AI enabled robotics lab and this message also appeared to be official. Parents were being fraudulently forced to give personal information or deposit the fee in the wrong account.
During the investigation on the complaint, the cyber police came to know that in the incident, the school’s online platform School Pad (SchoolPad) had transferred money to different bank accounts in the name of earning profit from the victim (school) through the school fee system. After which the search for the accused was started by identifying the bank’s beneficiary account holder 19-year-old Mohammad Rizwan resident Bareilly, Sudama Diwakar and 18-year-old Mohammad Faraz. On Saturday, the cyber team arrested Mohammad Rizwan, Sudama Diwakar and Mohammad Faraz son of Sartaj from Bareilly.
Mode of crime: The accused created a fake interface by impersonating the school’s online platform School Pad App and then unauthorized entry (hacking) into the real platform through technical means. By hacking the system, the names, contact details and login information of the students of all three branches (City Campus, Riverside and Mohali) were obtained and a message was sent to the students and parents to deposit Rs 4990 in the name of ‘AI Enabled Robotics Lab’ fee. The message was designed in such a way that it looked like the official information of the school, so that people get easily confused.
SSP STF Navneet Bhullar said that the bank accounts used by the accused for cyber crime have been found to have transactions worth crores of rupees in just a few months. The investigation also revealed that FIRs and other complaints have been registered against the accused in cyber crimes in many states of the country. For information regarding which, the police of other states are being contacted. Also, a case related to cyber fraud has been registered against Mohammad Rizwan and Sudama Diwakar in Izzatnagar police station, Bareilly. Both the accused have gone to jail.
