335 people fell ill across the city after eating buckwheat flour during Navratri fast. Out of these, 227 patients had to be admitted to various hospitals after their condition became critical. The maximum number of 70 patients are admitted in Doon Hospital. The pressure of patients on hospitals suddenly increased so much that two patients had to be admitted on one bed. 58 patients have been discharged after treatment. The rest are being treated.
The maximum number of patients have reached Government Doon Medical College. After this, patients came to Coronation and other private hospitals of the district for treatment. According to the data released by the hospital management, 120 patients had reached Doon Medical College till 7 pm on Monday evening. Out of this, 70 patients are still admitted. 118 patients have reached Coronation and a total of 97 patients have reached private hospitals.
Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh reached the hospital to meet the patients who were affected by the poisonous Kutta. He assured to provide good health services to the patients. R. Rajesh said that this incident is very sensitive.
For this, medical units have been put on alert mode. Doctors have also been instructed to take proper care of the patients. He said that every aspect of the case will be investigated. Strict action will be taken against the accused.
