Rishikesh: Rain continues in many districts of Uttarakhand. Due to rain in the hilly districts, the rainy rivers and drains flowing in the plains are in spate. Due to which the danger has increased. In such a situation, a big accident happened in Rishikesh. According to the information given by the police, a couple was swept away in Chandrabhaga, a tributary of the Ganges. The incident is reported to have happened on Thursday evening.
In-charge of Triveni Ghat police post Vinesh Kumar said that 26-year-old Pintu and his wife 25-year-old Lakshmi, residents of Chandraeshwar Nagar, were trying to cross the river from Mayakund. Then they lost their balance and were swept away in the strong currents of the river. Immediately after the incident, a search operation was started by the water police and SDRF personnel. But it had to be stopped in the evening. However, it was resumed on Saturday morning. But the couple has not been traced yet. Youth swept away in Ganga: A youth was swept away in the strong current of Ganga while bathing in Ganga near Balawali bridge in Laksar, Haridwar. As soon as the information was received, the police and SDRF team reached the spot. Search operation was started through rafting boat. When the team searched about 5 km ahead in the strong current of Ganga, the youth was found unconscious on the river bank. The youth was identified as Ashu resident Maharajpur Raisi.
SDRF’s quickness saved life: According to the incident, on Saturday, the youth who was bathing in Ganga was swept away due to loss of balance in the strong current. Local people immediately informed the police and SDRF team about the incident. On receiving the information, the rescue team of SDRF reached the spot. SDRF gave him first aid on the spot. With the help received on time, the youth regained his breath and he survived safely. People present at the spot praised this commendable work of SDRF.
SDRF SI Ashish Tyagi said that the flow of Ganga is very fast at this time. As soon as we got the information about the drowning of the youth, our team immediately became active and after searching for about 5 kilometers, he was taken out safely.
We appeal to all the people not to try to bathe or swim in the Ganga without safety measures. The water level and flow of the Ganga has increased during the monsoon season. In such a situation, the police and administration are constantly appealing to the bathers to be careful.
