Dehradun: Multipurpose cooperative societies of the state will now do big business. They will not be limited to selling fertilizers, seeds and urea but will also be able to open petrol, diesel pumps as well as Jan Aushadhi Kendra and homestay. Nodal officer MP Tripathi said that 27 new works can be done through the societies.
There are 671 multipurpose cooperative societies in the state. Apart from this, some new societies have been formed. Their main objective is to fulfill the economic, social and cultural needs of their members. These societies provide various types of services and assistance to their members, such as loans, fertilizers, seeds etc., but now 27 new works can also be done through them. This will make the societies economically strong along with providing essential services to the farmers associated with the societies. Nodal officer MP Tripathi, who was appointed for the formation of new societies in the state, said that societies will now be able to do different works according to different districts and regions. In some areas, homestays will open, while in some, solar power plants, petrol and diesel pumps, LPG supply etc. can be done.
Committees can do this work: Silk production, dairy, beekeeping, packaging, branding and marketing, schools, colleges, hospitals, ambulance service, CSC, processing unit, transportation, building and renting private warehouses, selling fertilizers, agricultural equipment, training members for skill development, bank friend, water friend, forming one or more labour groups, providing community based service, working as an agency to provide insurance etc. Committee will be formed in every village and area panchayat. In the plain districts of the state, a cooperative committee will be formed in every village and in the hilly districts in every area panchayat. According to nodal officer MP Tripathi, it has been started from Haridwar district. In this district, a committee will be formed in every village this month. After this, cooperative societies will be formed in Udham Singh Nagar district.
