New Delhi: The 2025 Winter Session of Parliament begins on Monday, December 1st. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has called an all-party meeting on Sunday, November 30th. This meeting will focus on building consensus on the smooth functioning of the House. The 2025 Winter Session will run until December 19th.
Congress is also holding a Parliamentary Strategy Group meeting on the same day at 5 p.m. Party sources indicate that this meeting will be held at Sonia Gandhi’s official residence, 10 Janpath. Congress will deliberate on strategies for the Winter Session. Congress, which leads the opposition in both houses, will demand discussions on US President Donald Trump’s repeated statements about mediating a ceasefire between India and Pakistan during Operation Sindoor, and on trade agreements and other issues with China.
Earlier this month, Congress MP Jairam Ramesh stated that SIR would be a major issue in the winter session of Parliament. Furthermore, Prime Minister Modi’s silence on Trump’s statements is also a major issue. The current relationship with China remains unresolved. No border agreement has been reached with China. We have not returned to the previous situation. He stated that negotiations between the two countries are based on new rules set by China.
According to Congress MP Pramod Tiwari in the Rajya Sabha, the party may also raise the issue of national security following the November 10 Delhi bombings, which killed 15 people.
Earlier, Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal told news agency ANI that an all-party meeting will be held to share a list of bills with opposition leaders and seek their suggestions. Meghwal further stated that they will also be meeting with secretaries of various departments and scrutinizing all pending bills that need to be passed. He added that Parliament will have 15 sittings in 19 days. Private Members’ Bills will be taken up for consideration on December 5 and 19, and Private Members’ Resolutions on December 12.
