New Delhi/Berlin: Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, received a warm welcome from the Indian Overseas Congress (IOC) upon his arrival at Berlin Airport during his 5-day visit to Germany.
He will attend a major IOC event today, where he will meet with IOC leaders from across Europe. IOC teams greeted him with garlands upon his arrival, and he was seen smiling. The event is being held to strengthen the global reach and activities of the Congress party. The IOC says that Rahul Gandhi will address the Indian diaspora there and meet with various party presidents in Europe. During this time, he will discuss NRI issues and how they can further spread the party’s ideology. It was stated that they are proud to welcome Rahul Gandhi, who will meet with the Indian diaspora in Berlin on December 17.
The Indian Overseas Congress said in a post on X, “This event will bring together all the presidents of the Indian Overseas Congress from across Europe, providing a unique platform for discussions with Rahul Gandhi on key issues, particularly strengthening the party, addressing NRI concerns, and how the IOC can play a crucial role in connecting more people to the party.”
The five-day visit was announced during the winter session of Parliament, which drew considerable criticism from BJP leaders. They alleged that his frequent trips raise questions about his commitment to the Indian Congress.
BJP MP Kangana Ranaut said on December 10 that she doesn’t keep track of his trips, but his constant travels are the reason for the opposition party’s decline. She remarked sarcastically that this man lacks substance and strength of character. “I don’t keep track of his trips, nor do I read any news about him. So, what can I say about his tours? But it’s clear to everyone why his party has been reduced to single digits.” Meanwhile, Priyanka Gandhi defended the Germany tour, saying, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi spends half of his working time outside the country, so why are they raising questions when opposition leaders are traveling?” The visit to Germany will continue until December 20.
