On Wednesday, Colonel Pratul Thapliyal, Commanding Officer of 127 Infantry Battalion (TA) Eco Garhwal Rifles, paid a courtesy visit to Sainik Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi at his office.
During the meeting, Sainik Welfare Minister Joshi urged Eco Garhwal Rifles to run a tree plantation campaign on a large scale on the occasion of the upcoming Harela festival. He said that in accordance with the traditional culture of Uttarakhand and the spirit of nature conservation, this festival is an opportunity for us to fulfill our responsibility towards the environment.
Colonel Pratul Thapliyal agreed to convene the program on Harela festival and also invited the minister to attend the organized program. He also informed that since the establishment of the unit, a total of 1.98 crore saplings have been planted by 127 Infantry Battalion (TA) Eco Garhwal Rifles, spreading greenery on 23,101 hectares of land.
The Commanding Officer expressed gratitude for providing two Bolero pickups and ten Hero Honda motorcycles to TA through the Horticulture Department in the year 2023. He also requested to provide two Mahindra Bolero pickups under CSR for better performance in remote areas.
Sainik Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi praised the work of the unit and said that the state government will fully support this dedication to environmental protection and national service. He assured the Commanding Officer that every effort will be made to provide the necessary resources.
