Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Director of the Meteorological Department, told ETV Bharat that no rain is forecast for the next week. He said, “The weather in Jammu and Kashmir is expected to remain mainly dry until November 17th. Night temperatures are likely to remain almost unchanged during this period.” He added that a slight improvement in night temperatures is expected after November 17th, which will last for two to three days, before the cold will increase again towards the end of the month. The Meteorological Department has advised residents and tourists to take necessary precautions during the morning and late evening hours as temperatures remain below normal in most parts of the Union Territory.
Cold weather sets in in Greater Mumbai
Mumbai residents, who typically endure the October heat this year, had to travel with umbrellas due to prolonged rains toward the end of October. However, the cold has now begun to set in Greater Mumbai. According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature in Mumbai has dropped to 18 to 20 degrees Celsius. Furthermore, the Meteorological Department has predicted morning and evening temperatures to remain between 18 and 20 degrees Celsius for the next two days.
According to the Meteorological Department’s Colaba Observatory, the weather conditions in Mumbai will remain stable between 18 and 20 degrees Celsius during the morning and evening hours for the next two days. According to the Meteorological Department, no unseasonal rain is currently forecast. Cold winds from the northwest will keep temperatures low and skies clear. This change is part of the post-monsoon transition. This decreases humidity and increases the effect of cold winds.
This mild chill in Mumbai is bringing much-needed relief to people, and now various grounds and parks in Mumbai, including Shivaji Park, are filling up with people coming for morning walks. With the morning temperature hovering between 18 and 20 degrees Celsius, many senior citizens are stepping out of their homes for morning walks. Furthermore, with the day temperatures being lower than normal, Mumbaikars are getting respite from the heat. People can be seen enjoying the coolness while strolling on Marine Drive, Bandra Bandstand, and Carter Road. In many parts of the city, people are enthusiastically welcoming winter.
