Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has given a major gift to the state’s sugarcane farmers. The government has increased the price of sugarcane by Rs 30 per quintal. The price of early variety sugarcane will now be Rs 405 per quintal, while the price for normal variety has been fixed at Rs 395 per quintal.
The Chief Minister stated that the government’s goal is to accelerate the economic empowerment of farmers and ensure that sugarcane farmers receive a full and fair price for their produce in a timely manner. To this end, the sugarcane price has been significantly increased this year compared to the 2024-25 crushing season. In the previous 2024-25 crushing season, the state-advised price for early variety was Rs 375 per quintal and for normal variety was Rs 365 per quintal. The Chief Minister stated that the entire price determination process involved extensive consultations with cooperative, public, and private sugar mills, the Sugarcane Development and Sugar Industry Department, farmer organizations, and relevant stakeholders.
Additionally, the central government has made the decision after a thorough analysis of the FRP, the effective sugarcane price in Uttar Pradesh, and the state’s geographical and agricultural conditions. Chief Minister Dhami stated that the state government prioritizes farmer interests in every decision.
Increasing sugarcane farmers’ income, ensuring fair treatment for their produce, and providing them with convenient, transparent, and timely payments are the state government’s responsibility. He directed the relevant departments to ensure no inconvenience at procurement centers and ensure payments are made without delay. He stated that the price announced for the 2025โ26 crushing season will not only provide relief to sugarcane farmers but also strengthen the state’s agricultural economy. There are approximately 300,000 sugarcane farmers in the state, of whom 130,000 supply sugarcane to sugar mills.
