Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid tribute to the late Brigadier Mukesh Joshi (Retd.) by visiting his residence in Johri, Dehradun, following his demise. During his visit, the Chief Minister met with the bereaved family members and expressed his heartfelt condolences. The Chief Minister offered prayers to God for the peace of the departed soul and for the strength and fortitude of the grieving family.
The Chief Minister stated that strict action would be ensured against the culprits involved in this unfortunate incident. He emphasized that the safety and security of the general public remain our top priority. Officials have been directed to launch “Operation Prahar” across the state to take stringent action against anti-social and unruly elements. He asserted that those who attempt to disrupt law and order would not be spared under any circumstances.
As was his daily routine, Brigadier Mukesh Joshi (Retd.) had stepped out for a morning walk accompanied by three companions. As they reached a short distance from his residence, two speeding cars approached them from the opposite direction. The youths inside the two vehicles were exchanging gunfire with one another. Amidst this altercation, a stray bullet struck Brigadier Joshi in the chest. He had absolutely no connection to the incident, nor did he know any of the unruly youths involved. According to his family members, he served in the Army until the age of 62 and participated in numerous significant military operations. He remained physically fit and healthy.
A deep-seated passion for serving the nation was always evident in his character. It was this very spirit that led him to send his son to join the Navy, thereby further strengthening his commitment to national service; yet, a petty dispute between a few youths tragically claimed his life. The police have now sealed the “Gen-Z Club,” from where the accused individuals had emerged after attending a party; they had reportedly been involved in an altercation with the club’s owner and staff members prior to the incident. This club has reportedly been sealed on previous occasions as well.
