Haridwar: Chief Secretary Shri Anand Bardhan convened a meeting with senior district officials to assess and discuss the preparations for the upcoming Kumbh-2027 and Char Dham Yatra.
Preparations for Kumbh Mela 2027
Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan held discussions with Mela Officer Karmendra Singh at the camp office in Mayapur regarding the forthcoming Kumbh-2027 fair in Haridwar. He instructed the District Magistrate and other district officials to ensure comprehensive preparations.
A high-level government meeting is scheduled to take place within the next seven to eight days to facilitate smooth arrangements for Kumbh-2027. The government plans to collaborate closely with saints and mahatmas, incorporating their guidance and insights into the planning process. Bardhan emphasized that all plans for the Kumbh will be developed with the best interests of Haridwar city and Kumbh Nagari in mind.
Char Dham Yatra Preparations
Providing updates on the Char Dham Yatra, the Chief Secretary stated that the state government has initiated measures to streamline arrangements. Necessary resources and requirements at both the district administration and government levels are being addressed. The registration process has already commenced, and discussions with stakeholders are underway. Additionally, district-level officers are conducting site inspections to identify and resolve logistical and infrastructural needs along the pilgrimage route.
Bardhan highlighted that the largest influx of visitors occurs at the beginning of the Char Dham Yatra. In response, he urged states, prominent figures, and VIPs to avoid travel during peak periods to prevent overcrowding. The state government is implementing proper arrangements to ensure a safe and seamless pilgrimage experience for devotees.
Strategic Planning and Collaboration
The Chief Secretary reassured that detailed plans for Kumbh-2027 are being formulated, keeping Haridwarโs development and public interest in focus. Notably, Bardhan has previously served as the District Magistrate and Vice President of HRDA in Haridwar, as well as the Mela Adhikari for the Kumbh Mela in 2010.
During an informal discussion with journalists, he revealed that several government officers are actively working on-ground to oversee Char Dham Yatra preparations and to ensure that devotees do not encounter any difficulties. When asked about the full-scale Kumbh, he stated that further action would be decided only after thorough consultations with saints and religious leaders.
Religious Visits and Official Presence
Following the meetings, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan visited Shri Maya Devi Temple at Juna Akhara and Daksh Prajapati Temple in Kankhal. He also participated in the Ganga Aarti, reaffirming the spiritual significance of the region.
Several district-level officials, including the District Magistrate, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), and Chief Development Officer, were present during these discussions and visits, underscoring the administrationโs commitment to making both the Kumbh-2027 and Char Dham Yatra a well-organized and successful event.
