Dehradun:-Pilgrims coming from all over the country on the Chardham Yatra routes get better accommodation facilities. For this, the government will promote homestay in villages adjacent to the travel routes. The government is trying to keep a room in every house for homestay. Along with providing hospitality training, the state government will also help in starting horticulture and animal husbandry business.
The state government had launched the Deendayal Upadhyaya Home Awas (Homestay) scheme in 2018 to promote tourism facilities and provide employment to local people. Under this scheme, more than six thousand homestays have been opened in the state so far. Where tourists are getting the facility of staying at cheap rates with the devotees coming to Chardham Yatra. Apart from this, tourists are also getting ackled to the folk culture of Uttarakhand. In view of the increasing number of pilgrims and tourists in the state every year, the tourism department is going to work on a new initiative to promote homestay.Such places will be marked on the Chardham Yatra routes. Where the crowd of tourists is high. People will be encouraged to stay in every village adjacent to the road around such places. The government is trying to keep a room in every house for homestay. Operators will be linked with skill development training, horticulture, animal husbandry business. For this, tourism, horticulture, animal husbandry, skill development departments will work together.
Nabhi and Kuti village of Pithoragarh was a successful experiment
The state government had started this initiative in the homestay in Nabhi and Kuti villages of Pithoragarh district. Which was successful. Along with homestay operations, 80 lakhs per family is earning annually from horticulture and animal husbandry. On this line, homestay will be promoted in the Chardham Yatra routes.
Registration arrangement will be started for Ganesh Dham
The problem of traffic jam is becoming more serious due to the increase in the number of devotees at the Ganesh Dham in Nainital district. For this, the tourism department is considering fixing the number of devotees for daily darshan on the basis of the carrying capacity of the Ganesh Dham and implementing the system of registration on the lines of Chardham Yatra.
It is the priority of the government to provide better facilities to the devotees and other tourists coming to Chardham Yatra. Along with tourism, other departments will work under an integrated scheme to promote homestay in road-adjacent villages on the Chardham Yatra routes.
