Chamoli:-Due to the intermittent rains for the last several days, the difficulties of the people have started to increase. Two houses have come under threat due to landslide in Paduli in Gopeshwar. One family has left home in the meeting center while the other has taken shelter in the neighborhood. Meanwhile, a team of administration reached the spot and inspected it. After this, both the families were given immediate assistance and material.
The courtyard and road of Raghuvir Bisht’s house in Paduli village of ward number nine under Gopeshwar municipality collapsed. This has put their home at risk. There is Rakesh Bisht’s house under his house. They were building a new building near him, the wall of the building under construction collapsed due to the landslide. At the same time, their old building has also been threatened. Both the houses are under threat due to incessant rains. There is frequent heavy rain at night, so landslides can increase.
Rakesh Bisht, a former teacher of a private school, has his wife and a daughter in his house, and his son works outside. He has taken shelter with his family in the municipal’s collective meeting centre. At the same time, Raghuvir Bisht is a former soldier and has been paralyzed for some time. His wife is suffering from heart disease. There is a daughter-in-law and two grandchildren at home. He has taken shelter with relatives in the neighbourhood.
Under the leadership of Congress city president Yogendra Bisht, Congress workers submitted a memorandum to the district magistrate demanding help to both the families and repair the buildings. The DM immediately sent a team under the leadership of Tehsildar to the spot.
After the inspection of the team, the administration has given immediate assistance to both the families. District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari said that both the families have been given cheques of Rs 6500-6500, five tarpaulins and four food packets.
