On Wednesday, the CBI arrested Inspector Shashank Singh Rathore of Nachani Post Office in Pithoragarh red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000. Rathore had taken this bribe from Suresh Chand, a shopkeeper of Kheti village in Bageshwar, in the name of filing a report for passing his loan subsidy. Accused Shashank Singh Rathore will be produced in the Special CBI Court on Thursday.
According to the information received from the CBI, Suresh Chand has a shop named Mamta Music and Electronics in Nachani. Suresh Chand had taken a loan of Rs 6 lakh from the District Industries Center Pithoragarh under the Pradhan Mantri Rojgar Srijan Karyakram (MGEP) in the year 2020. This loan was approved to him on January 3, 2020.
According to the eligibility conditions, he was to get Rs 2.10 lakh as a subsidy of 35 percent from this. Its verification report was to be filed from the post office Nachani. When Suresh Chand contacted Postal Inspector Shashank Singh Rathore for this, he started hesitating. He started pointing out all kinds of deficiencies in his file.
After this, he again contacted Shashank Rathore on June 20. At that time, Rathore demanded Rs 21,000 through post master Nandan Giri and postman Khushal Singh. CBI started investigation on this complaint. Suresh Chand also investigated the recording of the conversation with Shashank Singh Rathore. In this, Suresh Chand asked Rathore to reduce the bribe amount, then he agreed for Rs 15.
After the investigation was completed, CBI registered a case against Shashank Rathore on charges of corruption and prepared a trap team. CBI’s trap team reached Nachni post office on Wednesday and arrested Inspector Shashank Rathore red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 15,000 from Suresh Chand. No role of post master and postman was found in this case
