The CBI reached Dehradun airport on Saturday with former senior manager (finance) Rahul Vijay, accused of embezzling Rs 232 crore at the airport. The CBI conducted searches at several places, in which many important documents were found. After this, the accused was produced in the special CBI court from where he has been sent to 14-day judicial custody.
Airport Authority of India (AAI) Senior Manager (Finance) Rahul Vijay was currently posted at Jaipur Airport. He was arrested by the CBI from Jaipur itself and brought to Dehradun. A complaint was lodged against him by the Dehradun airport officer. Rahul Vijay was posted at Dehradun airport from 2019 to 2022. During that time the building of the new terminal was being constructed here.
Accused Rahul Vijay had the rights to all the financial transactions of AAI Dehradun. In such a situation, when the present officials investigated the transactions during that time, many irregularities were found in them.
It was revealed that Rahul Vijay made fake work orders for many such works which were never done here. The money for the work done was given to the AAI contractor while the money for the work with fake work orders was transferred to his own accounts. In this way, he embezzled a total of Rs 232 crore. The CBI questioned Rahul Vijay for about four hours at the Dehradun airport. During this, searches were conducted in many offices and rooms of the new and old buildings of the airport. The CBI has obtained many documents on the information given by Rahul Vijay.
