On the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, State Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi hoisted the flag at Gandhi Chowk in Mussoorie and paid tribute by offering floral tributes to the portraits of Gandhi and Shastri. The Cabinet Minister also paid homage to the martyrs of the statehood movement.
At the event held at Gandhi Chowk to mark Gandhi and Shastri’s birth anniversary, Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi stated that Mahatma Gandhi was a champion of truth and non-violence. He unarmedly challenged the British government in India, and millions of people rallied behind him, leading to the country’s independence. Today marks the birth anniversary of Shastri, the epitome of morality and character, who established a new dimension in politics, defying American pressure during the 1965 war, and preparing the country for national security and food supply by raising the slogan “Jai Jawan Jai Kisan.” He also demonstrated his political valor by resigning as Railway Minister, taking moral responsibility for the train accident. He also remembered the Muzaffarnagar incident during the Uttarakhand state movement and paid homage to the martyrs. On this occasion, he congratulated everyone on Dussehra and said that this is the festival of victory of truth over evil. On this occasion, he also announced to build a gate in Bhatta village in the name of Kalam Singh, an active leader of the state movement, and in Landhaura in the name of Hukam Singh Panwar.
