Dehradun: Tourists coming to Mussoorie to escape the heat during the tourist season had to wait for hours for the buses of the Transport Corporation on Sunday. Due to shortage of buses at the hill bus station located at the railway station of Doon, the passengers stood in the scorching sun and heat. The corporation management also increased the frequency of buses but this also did not bring relief.
It was told that the buses which were sent to Mussoorie were getting stuck in the jam. Buses coming from Mussoorie also reached Doon in three to four hours. Divisional Manager Suresh Chauhan has instructed the AGM of the hill depot to arrange sufficient number of buses for Mussoorie.
Buses of the hill depot operate on the Doon-Mussoorie route. The Transport Corporation has a total of 87 buses of its own in the hill depot (Mussoorie depot). Out of these, seven buses are for long distance plain routes. Apart from these, 80 buses in the depot are for hill routes. 30 buses of the hill depot are operating on the Mussoorie route every day. Out of these, 25 buses run between Dehradun and Mussoorie while the remaining buses go to other hill stations via Mussoorie.
Buses are engaged for Chardham:-
These days, due to Chardham Yatra, some buses are engaged in travel work, in such a situation, the Transport Corporation is not able to arrange additional buses.
