Dehradun: Farmers will get double profit from the cultivation of bottle brush (scientific name Callistemon). Oil can be produced from its leaves and honey from the flowers that bloom throughout the year. For the first time, research is being done on cultivation of bottle brush at Aromatic Plant Center Selaqui.
An income of up to 2.10 lakhs can be obtained from the yield on one hectare of land. Usually, bottle brush plants laden with flowers on the roadside, parks or outside houses attract everyone. But many medicinal properties are also hidden in this plant. Till now, bottle brush plants are planted for decoration in any state of the country. It is not cultivated commercially.
Aromatic Plant Center Selaqui is doing research on cultivation of bottle brush for the first time. After this, farmers will be encouraged to cultivate it. After scientific research, farmers will get the option of growing bottle brush instead of poplar and eucalyptus. Along with this, farmers troubled by losses caused by wild animals will be able to earn good income by cultivating bottle brush.
