Amidst the controversy surrounding the removal of Lord Kedarnath’s Roop Chhari from the state, a meeting of the Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee decided that the Roop Chhari will no longer be moved outside the state. Meanwhile, Endowments Minister Satpal Maharaj has sent a letter to the BKTC President, requesting an investigation and a report into the Kedarnath Shrine’s announcement of a new Rawal and the subsequent removal of the Roop Chhari.
The Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee met yesterday, where, among other matters, the issue of the Roop Chhari being moved was raised. Members expressed their displeasure over the removal of the Roop Chhari. A letter from Cabinet Minister Maharaj has reached the BKTC. In it, Maharaj stated that information regarding the announcement of a new Rawal by the Shri Kedarnath Shrine at an event in Nanded, Maharashtra, and the subsequent removal of the historic Roop Chhari and precious sacred materials has been continuously circulated through the media since February 13th.
Furthermore, it has been reported through reliable sources that the activities involved are contrary to general rules and traditions. The letter further states that due to the Prime Minister and Chief Minister’s special attachment to Kedarnath Dham and the development of the shrine, every activity is constantly monitored. The shrine’s doors are about to open, and this incident is sending a negative message to the country
