Almora: After the three-tier panchayat elections, preparations for the election of the district panchayat president have intensified. The final reservation list for this post has also been released. A women’s seat has been set for Almora district panchayat. After the release of this reservation, both BJP and Congress have put forward the names of their candidates. The parties have intensified contact with independents to ensure victory for their candidates.
The commission has set August 14 as the date for the election of the post of district panchayat president. The district panchayat Almora seat is for women. For this, BJP has fielded Hema Gaida and Congress has fielded Sunita Kunjwal. Both the parties have started efforts to pacify other claimants so that there is no rebellion within the parties. In the district, four district panchayat members of BJP and five district panchayat members of Congress have staked their claim.
However, if the district presidents are to be believed, they have decided their candidates, although the announcement is yet to be made. At the same time, a plan is being made to prevent rebellion within the parties. BJP District President Mahesh Nayal said that District Panchayat member Hema Gaida has been made the party candidate by the BJP, although its official announcement is yet to be made. He said that independents are being contacted. The District Panchayat President will be from BJP and victory is certain. At the same time, Congress District President Bhupendra Bhoj says that Assembly Speaker Govind Singh Kunjwal’s daughter-in-law Sunita Kunjwal is our only candidate from Congress. He said that the victory of the Congress candidate is certain and that independents are being contacted.
Fear of rebellion within the parties: Whether it is Congress or BJP, both are also afraid of rebellion within the parties. They are making plans to prevent sabotage. Because many in both the parties had claimed to be the party candidate. Now both the parties have almost announced their candidates. Now the party leaders are also afraid of rebellion. If the post of District Panchayat President is to be won, then independents have to be brought together. Both parties know this very well. To ensure that their candidate wins, the leaders of both the parties are trying to woo the independent candidates. The upcoming election on 14th August is going to be very interesting.
