Chamoli: Rishikesh Badrinath National Highway has been completely blocked due to landslide between Gauchar – Karnaprayag. Due to which there are long queues of vehicles on both sides of the highway. The administration is working to make the highway smooth. At present, debris is being removed from the highway by machines. After some time the highway will be smooth for movement. In view of security, police force is deployed at all the landslide places.
Rain had stopped after noon in Chamoli district. In such a situation, Badrinath Highway had become completely smooth for movement almost everywhere, but due to Chamoli district being very sensitive, the geographical conditions here keep deteriorating continuously. Problems like landslides persist here from time to time.
Landslides are continuing in Peepalkoti, Bhanerpani. CCTV cameras have been installed by the administration here in view of the problem of landslides. Through which they are monitored. In case of untimely landslides, machines are immediately sent here to make the road smooth.
It is to be noted that heavy rains have been occurring in different parts of the state for the last few days. Due to the rains, disaster-like conditions have been created in many areas. At the same time, the Meteorological Department is also constantly alerting about the rains. In view of the possibility of rain, orders for holiday of schools are being issued across the state.
At the same time, the district administration is also in active mode in view of the rain alert. All the District Magistrates have also asked to deploy JCB machines in the landslide areas. Along with this, emphasis has been laid on reducing the response time. The District Magistrates have also asked to deploy teams in the rivers, drains and waterlogged areas. Administrative teams have also been asked to remain on alert. Instructions have been given to shift the people living on the banks of the river, drains to other places and to keep adequate stock of food grains, essential medicines etc.
