New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is in the national capital Delhi today. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is accompanied by her nephew Abhishek Banerjee. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will meet the Chief Election Commissioner at 4 pm today. However, before meeting the Election Commissioner, Mamata Banerjee leveled serious allegations against the central government and the Election Commission today. Mamata Banerjee is currently moving around on the streets of Delhi.
Addressing a press conference in Delhi, CM Banerjee said, “I am going to Banga Bhavan to see my people and witness the atrocities of the Delhi Police.” Mamata Banerjee further said, “When the Home Minister comes to Bengal, we give him a red carpet. But when we come to Delhi, you give us a black carpet. Please stop the atrocities against the people of Bengal, who have lost their lives.” After reaching Banga Bhavan on Hailey Road in Delhi, Mamata Banerjee, while speaking about the central government and the Election Commission, said that she will be meeting Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar regarding concerns related to SIR.
The CM also alleged mistreatment of people from Bengal in the national capital Delhi. The West Bengal Chief Minister further said, “If no one fights in this country, I will fight, our party will fight. There is a meeting tomorrow at 3 pm, and the media has been invited to a press conference at Banga Bhavan.”
Mamata Banerjee further said, “The people of Delhi don’t know what is happening in Bengal. I just received the information, and I haven’t even changed my clothes.” Mamata Banerjee alleged that the Delhi Police is repeatedly harassing these families. Outside Banga Bhavan, Mamata said, “We also have brothers and sisters like you. These people have come to present their case before the Supreme Court. We have not come to protest. If we had come to protest, we would have driven you crazy. Just don’t harass our people.” Mamata Banerjee claimed that families from Bengal who have faced difficulties due to the NRC (National Register of Citizens) and have taken refuge in Delhi are being “harassed and disturbed” by the Delhi Police, and that “strict surveillance” has been imposed around Banga Bhavan.
It is noteworthy that Banga Bhavan, considered a safe haven for Bengalis in Delhi, has always served as a refuge for Bengalis during any emergency in the capital. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that she has brought a symbolic group of 100 people to Delhi, including those who were declared “dead” in the NRC but are still alive, as well as families whose members died during the NRC process.
