The main accused in the Angel Chakma murder case, Raj Yagya Awasthi, has been evading the police for the past 15 days. The Nepalese police are also searching his suspected hideouts. The Dehradun police are in constant contact with the Nepalese police.
According to sources, the police are now very close to apprehending the accused, Raj Yagya Awasthi. He is likely to be arrested by Friday night. Angel Chakma, who was injured in the incident that took place in Selakui on December 9, died on December 26 while undergoing treatment. In this case, the police had registered an FIR against six accused on December 14 for attempted murder. After Chakma’s death, the charges were upgraded to murder.
Accused believed to be in the border area
The police have arrested five of the accused, but the main accused, Yagya Raj, is still at large. The Dehradun police are making every effort to apprehend him. According to reports, the Nepalese police are also assisting in the search. The Nepalese police raided several potential hideouts, including the accused’s house, but he could not be arrested.
Therefore, the police suspect that the accused is still in the border area. Efforts are being made to track him down continuously. SSP Ajay Singh said that a rapid search operation is underway to apprehend the accused. He will soon be in police custody.
