Rohtak: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Friday inaugurated the expansion of Sabar Dairy (Amul) plant at IMT in Rohtak, Haryana. The plant will produce 150 metric tonnes of curd, 3 metric tonnes of buttermilk, 10 metric tonnes of yogurt and 10 metric tonnes of sweets per day. “Sat the inauguration ceremony, Shah said, “”This plant is not just an industrial project, but a medium for the economic progress of farmers.” This will complement the milk needs of North India as well as strengthen the regional rural economy.
India has become the world’s largest milk producer: Amit Shah while addressing the farmers said that India has now become the world’s largest milk producing country. The country’s dairy sector has grown by 70% in the last 11 years. Milk production has now reached 249 million tonnes from 140 million tonnes in 2014. The milk production of indigenous cows has also increased from 29 million tonnes to 50 million tonnes. More than 8 crore farmers in the country are now associated with dairy, increasing the per capita milk availability from 124 grams to 471 grams per day. Haryana’s role is important: Amit Shah appreciated Haryana’s mother power and the role of soldiers. “””Haryana is at the forefront of the country’s army, sports and grain storage,”” he said.” Shah said that Sabar Dairy, which started from Gujarat, is doing a business of Rs 85 thousand crore today and this plant in Haryana will double its capacity in the future. This plant will benefit the entire state and lakhs of farmers will join it. At the same time, thousands of new employment opportunities will be created for the local youth.
’75 thousand dairy committees will be formed’: Amit Shah said “75 thousand dairy committees will be formed in the coming time.” I want to tell the country that we are going with a target of 1 thousand lakh metric tons of milk procurement. When procurement increases, the benefit goes directly to the livestock farmers. So far, 31 thousand cooperative committees have been formed in the country. Three committees have been formed at the national level. All this money will go to the bank account of the farmers. Emphasis on use of new technologies and research in the dairy sector: Amit Shah informed that the central government is giving priority to embryo transfer, sex determination scheme, animal feed and dung management for livestock farmers. The National Gokul Mission and the Animal Husbandry Fund are proving to be a boon in this field. He said the installation of the plants would be tripled up to bring milk products across the country to the global market. Also, the plan to promote research in the dairy sector is also among the priorities of the government.
Chief Minister Saini said that the entire north India will benefit from the Rohtak plant: Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini said that this plant is not just a factory but an extension of the cooperative movement. It has been expanded with an investment of Rs 325 crore, making it the largest dairy plant in the country. “The chief minister said, “”The state government is giving loans to farmers at affordable interest rates through cooperatives.” Social benefits such as accident insurance scheme, scholarships and help in marriage of daughters are also being given through cooperatives.
