Cleanliness of Yamuna river is the top priority:
Ahead of the Union Home Minister’s address, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the revival and cleanliness of the Yamuna river are among the top priorities of the government. First the 15-year Congress government was gone, then the 11-year-old AAP government also left. No one took care of Yamuna. The central government gave two thousand crore rupees to the then government under the Amrit Ek and Amrit Do schemes, but nothing happened. The Yamuna is not just a river but the lifeblood of Indian culture and civilization, whose serenity is a symbol of both our faith and environmental commitment. Our government has a clear goal to make Yamuna pollution-free, clean and revived.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the cleanliness campaign of Yamuna was specially included in the election manifesto of the Delhi government. Now the time has come to take this promise off the ground. The Home Minister has many problems across the country, but despite that, whenever we asked him for work, he has given full help. The cleaning of Yamuna was stinging the people of Delhi like colic. There were many governments but no one tried on how the Yamuna would be clean. It has just been made a political issue, since the BJP government was formed, the home ministers of the Modi government have held a meeting every month on the cleaning of the Yamuna. STP will be made on large drains, Yamuna will be clean. This time Chhath Ghat will be built on Yamuna Ghat. First Chhath cannot be celebrated on the ghat of Yamuna, but this time Chhath will be celebrated with pomp on both sides of Yamuna.
Focus on removing sewerage problems: These special efforts focus on removing the decades-old water and sewerage problems, which are continuously polluting the Yamuna river. These plans mainly include the construction and repair of sewage treatment plants and sewer lines. These schemes also include booster pumping stations to efficiently deliver clean drinking water to remote areas.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the Yamuna cleanliness campaign will get an effective boost in these projects. These projects are an integral part of the broader drive to make the Yamuna river pollution-free. Sewage treatment plants (STPs) are also being built along 22 major drains in the capital to prevent dirty water from flowing directly into the river. The water purified from them will go into the river and prevent pollution. With this, Yamuna will start to be clean and clean forever. At the same time, Delhi’s Water Minister Pravesh Verma said in the welcome speech that my Yamuna, which comes out of Yamunotri and comes to Delhi, then the government in the last 27 years, whether it was of the Congress or the Aam Aadmi Party, has not cleaned the Yamuna. Explaining the religious importance of the river, he said that whatever cooperation will be from our side, we will all do it for the cleaning of Yamuna.
