New Delhi: On Thursday, PM Modi inaugurated the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, the capital of the country. On this occasion, the PM presented India’s comprehensive ‘MANAV Vision’ for Artificial Intelligence, which outlined a human-based framework for ethical, accountable, and inclusive AI governance.
Addressing CEOs of AI companies worldwide, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the need to steer AI in the right direction. Addressing delegates at the summit being held in the national capital, the Prime Minister said, “Today, at the AI โโImpact Summit, I present the MANAV Vision for AI. MANAV stands for Human Being.” Explaining the acronym, the Prime Minister said, “The ‘M’ stands for Moral and Ethical System – AI should be based on ethical guidance.”
A stands for Accountable Governance, which means transparent rules and strong oversight.
N stands for National Sovereigntyโwhoever has the data, owns it.
A stands for Accessible and InclusiveโAI should be a multiplier, not a monopoly.
V stands for Valid and LegitimateโAI should be legal and verified.
PM Modi stated that the MANAV Vision will serve as a guiding framework for the global AI ecosystem. He stated that India’s MANAV Vision will become an essential link for the well-being of humanity in the AI-based world of the 21st century. Highlighting concerns about emerging threats, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for robust safeguards, especially for children. He said that we must be more vigilant about their safety. The AI โโspace must also be child-safe and family-friendly.
Furthermore, PM Modi stated that this vision reflects the changing technological environment. He said that we are moving into an era where humans and intelligent systems work together and progress together. Emphasizing India’s growing capabilities in this sector, he said that India sees a strong future in AI. We have the talent, energy capacity, and policy clarity. The Prime Minister also announced new domestic innovations at the summit. He said, “I am happy to inform you all that three Indian companies have launched their AI models and apps at this summit. These models showcase the talent of our youth.”
Calling for global collaboration, PM Modi appealed to technology leaders and innovators to partner with India. He said, “I invite all of you to design and develop in India, and bring it to the world and humanity.” The India AI Impact Summit 2026 brought together government policymakers, industry AI experts, academics, technology innovators, and civil society from around the world in New Delhi to advance the global discussion on artificial intelligence.
The India AI Impact Summit is the first global AI summit to be held in the Global South. It showcases the transformative potential of AI, aligned with the national vision of “Sarvajana Hitaya, Sarvajana Sukhaya” (All’s Well-Being, All’s Happiness) and the global principle of AI for Humanity. The summit is part of a developing international process aimed at strengthening global cooperation on the governance, safety, and social impact of AI.
