State Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi planted a fruit tree along with his wife Nirmala Joshi at his official residence today on the auspicious occasion of Lokparva Harela. On this occasion, the minister extended his heartfelt greetings and best wishes to the people of the state on the occasion of Harela festival.
Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi said that the meaning of Harela is associated with greenery and this festival is a symbol of greenery, prosperity and the beginning of a new season. He said that according to traditional beliefs, the bigger the Harela, the more fruitful the farmer’s crop will be. He said that Harela is a festival associated with the cultural heritage of Uttarakhand and environmental conservation, which gives us the message of greenery, animal husbandry and harmony with nature. The minister said that the tradition of planting trees after Harela worship in the month of Shravan has been the special identity of Uttarakhand.
On this occasion, the Agriculture Minister appealed to the people that “planting one tree is like having ten children”, with this feeling everyone should participate in environmental conservation. He said that fruit plants are being planted across the state with the participation of various institutions, voluntary organizations (NGOs) and the general public
