District Magistrate Savin Bansal held a review meeting late evening in the Rishiparna Auditorium of the Collectorate to review the damage caused by the disaster in the district and the structures and restoration work in the affected areas. The district has suffered an estimated loss of over ₹211 crore due to the heavy rainfall that occurred on the night of September 15th. Assessment work is currently underway. During the meeting, the District Magistrate thoroughly reviewed the damage and restoration work in Majhad, Karligad, Phulait, Chhamroli, Kiara, Sarona, Bhitarli Kimari, Silla, Chamasari, Purkul, Dhanola. After visiting all the affected areas, coordinating teams, and overseeing relief and rescue operations on the ground, the District Magistrate conducted a loss assessment. The DM held a high-level review meeting with the Chief Development Officers (CDOs), Sub-District Magistrates (SDDMs), Superintendent Engineers, and Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, and Horticulture officials, and issued necessary instructions. The DM stated that the restoration of electricity, roads, and drinking water; Prompt compensation for homes, farms, and crops is our priority, and it is the administration’s responsibility to provide relief to every disaster-affected person. To this end, the District Magistrate has deployed senior QRTs in each area to provide gratuitous, grievance-related, and gratuitous compensation. The District Magistrate has documented the damages throughout the district, focusing specifically on Sahastradhara/Majhad (Karligad), Bhitarli Kimadi, and Sirona-Phulet areas. The District Magistrate, while assessing the damage, directed the departments to ensure immediate arrangements are made in the affected areas, not waiting for the budget. He also directed the district and the government to submit proposals. The DM directed officials from PWD and PMGSY to reconnect villages that have been cut off from the grid on a war footing. The District Magistrate issued clear instructions to the concerned departments: Electricity, Public Works Department, PMGSY, Jal Sansthan, Drinking Water Corporation, Irrigation, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, and Horticulture to take immediate action. He said that the departmental officers should work responsibly for the speedy restoration of electricity, roads, drinking water, irrigation and other essential services in the affected areas, so that the disaster-affected families can get relief. He directed that the departments will conduct a joint survey and assess the damage caused to buildings, animal loss, horticulture and ensure hand-to-hand compensation distribution. The District Magistrate took information from all the departments one by one about the damage caused to their structures and services. 13 bridges of PWD, 01 NHI Jakhan bridge approach near Funvalley damaged in the district, estimated cost is 13.46 crores, including 18.23 crores to Drinking Water Corporation, 13.31 crores to Jal Sansthan, 64.50 crores to Irrigation Department, 10.63 crores to Electricity Department, 4.18 crores to Education Department, 4.15 crores to Rural Development Department, 46 crores to PWD, 35 lakhs to Health Department, 54 lakhs to Agriculture Department, 8.78 lakhs to Horticulture Department, 26.38 crores to PMGSY, estimated loss of 9.23 crores has occurred in the entire development block. The damage assessment survey is currently underway in the district.
