State Public Works and Irrigation Minister Satpal Maharaj has said that the torrential rains in Dehradun and surrounding areas since last night have disrupted normal life. 20 to 30 roads and bridges have been damaged at some places. While many connecting routes have also been completely cut off.
State Public Works and Irrigation Minister Satpal Maharaj said that a valley bridge is being prepared to smoothen the traffic after the bridge was damaged due to heavy rains near the Shiv temple on the Mussoorie-Dehradun road. Instructions have been given to the officials of the Public Works Department and NHAI to immediately repair the main roads blocked by the rain and restore traffic. He said that due to the damaged bridge on the Tons river near Premnagar Nanda Ki Chowki, the NHAI has been completely opened to keep the traffic smooth.
PWD Minister Shri Maharaj informed that about 70-100 meters of the road from Raipur Chowk to Maldevta, beyond Kesarwala near Maldevta, was washed away due to the flood in Song River, the work of filling it has been started. Similarly, after a part of the bridge built near Jakhan River on Dehradun-Haridwar National Highway Laltappad got damaged, the traffic has been diverted to alternative routes from Bhaniyawala and Nepali Farm. As soon as the water level decreases, the work of repairing the damaged part of the bridge will be started immediately.
