Dehradun: Action has been taken against the health department officer who hit bike riders with a car while drunk in Rudraprayag district. Taking disciplinary action, the Uttarakhand Health Department has suspended Dr. Mohd. Shah Hasan, Additional Chief Medical Officer in charge posted in Chamoli district with immediate effect.
Dr. Hasan had recently hit two bike riders with a Scorpio in Tilani area of Rudraprayag district. Due to which the bike riders suffered serious injuries. On which the Health Department investigated the matter. The report related to this incident was received by the Health Department on August 3. In which Dr. Mohd. Shah Hasan’s consumption of alcohol was confirmed. On the basis of the report, it was found that his conduct was in violation of the Uttarakhand State Employees Conduct Rules 2002. On this basis, the Uttarakhand government has suspended Dr. Mohd. Shah Hasan in public interest by obtaining the approval of the Governor under Rule-4 of the Uttarakhand Appeal and Discipline Rules 2003.
Health Secretary Dr. R Rajesh Kumar said that the state government is giving top priority to the quality, accountability and discipline of health services. There has been a clear violation of conduct in this case. The government has taken it very seriously. He also said that indiscipline, irresponsible behavior or ignorance of service obligations will not be tolerated at any level in the department. He said that this incident is not only sad for the victim families, but also damages the credibility of the entire health system. The government’s policy in such cases is zero tolerance.
During the suspension, Dr. Hasan has been posted at Rudraprayag headquarters. From where he will fully cooperate in the departmental investigation. Clear instructions have been given to the Health Department to ensure fair, transparent and speedy investigation in this matter. If the allegations are proved, strict punitive action will be taken as per the rules.
