A Volvo bus carrying passengers lost control and collided with a tractor-trailer loaded with sugarcane in Nunnawala, Bhaniawala, on the Dehradun-Haridwar National Highway. The bus driver died on the spot. Upon receiving information, local police and an SDRF team arrived at the scene. The driver, trapped inside the damaged bus, was rescued with the help of the SDRF. The driver and conductor were subsequently taken to the hospital, where the driver was declared dead by a doctor. The conductor was injured in the accident.
Outpost in-charge Naveen Dangwal said the incident occurred around 5:30 a.m., when a Volvo bus was traveling from Delhi to Dehradun. Near the Nunnawala Gurudwara, the bus collided with a tractor-trailer, killing the driver. The injured conductor has been hospitalized. All passengers are reported safe.
Police say the matter is under investigation. The deceased has been identified as Yogendra (52), son of Omsharan, resident of Patla, Modi Nagar police station, Ghaziabad, and the injured conductor has been identified as Dilshan (32), son of Insaf, resident of Arifpur, Babugarh police station, Hapur district, Uttar Pradesh.
