Secretary IT and Urban Development Nitesh Jha called a meeting in this regard, in which scientists from many institutions participated. He has constituted a committee under the chairmanship of Prof. Durgesh Pant, Director General of Uttarakhand Space Application Center, which will give its report to him in a week.
This committee of scientists will focus on pre-disaster preparations, strong mechanism for disaster forecasting and post-disaster solutions. The committee will also see how the lakes formed in the glaciers of the Himalayan regions of Uttarakhand can be monitored with satellite-based techniques.
Emphasis is also laid on strengthening the communication system after the disaster
The biggest difficulties after a disaster are caused by the collapse of the communication system. The communication system has not been made functional in Dharali till now. Hence, this committee will see how to develop a better communication system in disaster-prone areas, so that communication remains intact even during disasters. It will also be seen how pre-disaster rescue can be done with drone-based technology.
