Srinagar: Security forces foiled an infiltration attempt on the Line of Control (LoC) in Gurez sector of Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir. During this, two terrorists were killed. The terrorists have not been identified. At the same time, a soldier was martyred while on duty in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Indian Army said on Thursday that two unidentified terrorists were killed in an anti-infiltration operation near the Line of Control in Gurez Valley in Bandipora district of North Kashmir. An officer said that the army foiled the infiltration attempt and killed two terrorists near Naushera Narad in Gurez sector. He said that the search operation is going on. The Srinagar-based Chinar Corps of the Army, responsible for military operations in Kashmir, said in a post on X that the operation was launched based on intelligence provided by the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Based on the intelligence provided by the Jammu and Kashmir Police about a possible infiltration attempt, the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a joint operation in Gurez sector. Alert soldiers observed suspicious activity and challenged them, resulting in the terrorists opening indiscriminate fire. The soldiers retaliated effectively and killed two terrorists. The army said that the warriors of Chinar salute the bravery and sacrifice of the soldier. The army further said, ‘We stand in solidarity with the bereaved family and are committed to their well-being.’ The army did not give any further information about the soldier’s cause of death or the date of his death.
