There is good news for the students who wish to study in Rajiv Gandhi Navodaya Vidyalayas operating in the state. Now the talented students of the state will be able to get admission in these schools through lateral entry on the vacant seats in class 7, 8, 9 and class 11. After the approval of School Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, a government order has been issued from the government level. In which necessary instructions have been given to the departmental officers regarding the lateral entry process.
Till now, there was a provision for admission only in class 6 in Rajiv Gandhi Navodaya Vidyalayas operating under the School Education Department. But due to many students getting selected in other schools, seats in higher classes remained vacant. In such a situation, with the aim of full utilization of the physical and human resources available in the schools, the state’s School Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat had instructed the senior officials of the department to implement the system of lateral entry. In this sequence, the School Education Secretary has issued a government order and instructed the officers to give admission to the interested students through lateral entry. Under which, now along with the entrance examination for class-6 in Rajiv Gandhi Naviday Vidyalayas, lateral entrance examination will be conducted for the vacant seats in class-7, 8, 9 and class-11. Candidates will be given admission in the said classes on the basis of merit. Apart from this, a waiting list will also be prepared in relation to the vacant seats so that if the candidate selected in the examination does not take admission, then the candidate can be selected from the waiting list in relation to the vacant seat. The age limit for admission in the concerned class will be calculated/determined in accordance with the new education policy, as well as reservation for admission in vacant seats will be permissible under the provisions laid down by the state government. Apart from this, candidates seeking admission in class-7, 8, 9, and class-11 are required to have passed the previous class i.e. 6, 7, 8 and 10 from a recognized institution. The lateral examination will be organized by the Uttarakhand Board of School Education. Departmental officers have been instructed to ensure wide publicity of the lateral examination so that maximum number of students can take advantage of it.
