New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met his Fijian counterpart Sitiveni Ligamamada Rabuka in the national capital on Monday. This meeting of Fijian Prime Minister Rabuka and Prime Minister Modi took place at Hyderabad House. Both the leaders stressed on further strengthening bilateral relations. Also, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is organizing a lunch in their honor. Rabuka is also scheduled to meet President Draupadi Murmu today.
Fijian Prime Minister Rabuka started his official visit to India on Sunday and will stay in India till August 26. His visit will further strengthen the India-Fiji partnership in various fields. Rabuka will leave for Fiji on August 27.
Prime Minister Rabuka was welcomed by Union Minister of State for Education and Development of North Eastern Region Sukanta Majumdar on reaching the national capital. This is Prime Minister Rabuka’s first visit to India while holding the current post.
Earlier this Sunday, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare JP Nadda met Fiji Prime Minister Sitiveni Ligamamada Rabuka.
During the meeting, the Fiji Prime Minister was accompanied by Fiji’s Minister for Health and Medical Services Ratu Antonio Lalabalavu and other senior officials.
Union Minister Nadda interacted with Prime Minister Rabuka on enhancing cooperation in the healthcare sector. In a post on X, he said, “Met Fiji Prime Minister Sitiveni Ligamamada Rabuka in New Delhi today as part of our ‘Know BJP’ initiative. Our discussion focused on strengthening party-to-party ties, where I highlighted our party’s ideology, organisational structure and its role in furthering India’s development journey. We also had detailed discussions on enhancing cooperation in the healthcare sector. Fiji’s Prime Minister Rabuka and Prime Minister Modi will hold talks on Monday and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host a lunch in his honour. He is also scheduled to meet President Draupadi Murmu. According to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs, Rabuka will also deliver a lecture on the topic ‘Ocean of Peace’ at the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) in the national capital.
