At the same time, a registration room and waiting room have also been made for the disabled people. Now, all the facilities for Divyang citizens from getting certificates to physiotherapy, psychological counselling and prosthetic limbs will be available at one place in DDRC. The first Divyang Rehabilitation Centre of the state is being built in the Gandhi Shatabdi Hospital of the district. This centre will not only provide certification to the Divyangjans, but will also provide all the services like prosthetic limbs, hearing aids, equipment distribution, physiotherapy, psychological and social counselling under one roof. This caused inconvenience to the Divyangjans, in view of which it has now been decided to bring all the services at one place. After registration in the centre, proper counselling and services are provided to the Divyangjans on the basis of medical, social, educational and psychological evaluation. The centre also distributes assistive devices like wheelchairs, tricycles, hearing aids etc. to the Divyangjans and makes them self-reliant by giving skill development training and links them with self-employment schemes. The centre provides special education, vocational training and rehabilitation services so that the Divyangjans are not deprived of education or employment opportunities. Various promotional activities are carried out to increase awareness in the society, so that a positive attitude towards the Divyangjans can be developed. Apart from this, they are also linked to government schemes like UDID card, pension, scholarship etc. The specialty of the center is its multi-disciplinary team which includes experts like physiotherapist, speech therapist, occupational therapist and counselor, who ensure holistic rehabilitation for the disabled. This center will not only provide certification to the disabled, but will also provide all services like prosthetic limbs, hearing aids, equipment distribution, physiotherapy, psychological and social counseling under one roof. The responsibility of operation will be of the Social Welfare Department and it will be an important step towards bringing the inclusive and accessible service policy of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to the ground. For the last 5 years, the DDRC center was operating at a distance of about one kilometer from Herbertpur, while one of its sub-centers was functioning at Sanatan Dharma Kanya Inter College, Raja Road. This caused inconvenience to the disabled, in view of which it has now been decided to bring all the services at one place. The centre is run by voluntary organisations as per the guidelines of the Government of India. 14 posts are sanctioned for its operation, whose salary is borne by the Social Welfare Department.
