After the matter reached the High Court, the election was finally postponed. Now the elections of Zila Panchayat President and Vice President will be held again in Nainital. In the case, a statement was given in the High Court on behalf of District Magistrate Vandana Singh that she will send its proposal to the Election Commission. She gave this statement before the court through video conferencing. Now the election of Nainital Zila Panchayat President and Vice President will be held only after the date fixed by the Commission. On the complaint of the SI, the police have registered a case of kidnapping against unknown persons. Till late evening, the police could not trace the kidnapped members. Deepa Darmwal from BJP and Pushpa Negi from Congress were in the fray for the Nainital Zila Panchayat President election. On Wednesday, the administration implemented Section 163 and barricaded the area within a radius of five hundred meters of the Zila Panchayat office. Voting for the Zila Panchayat President post started at 10 am in Nainital. Some Zila Panchayat candidates had just left for the Zila Panchayat office from Zoo Road along with Congress Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya, MLA Sumit Hridayesh and former MLA Sanjeev Arya for voting when suddenly about 10 to 12 unknown people wearing colorful raincoats stopped the Zila Panchayat members and started beating them. Before the Zila Panchayat members and Congress members could understand anything, the unknown people started pulling the Zila Panchayat members. During this, the unknown people also pushed the Congressmen who were trying to intervene. Soon, the unidentified persons dragged the members on the road for about 100 meters and kidnapped them by putting them in a vehicle parked on Mall Road. After the kidnapping incident, Congress leaders created a ruckus and boycotted the election accusing the BJP and the police. Voting stopped in the District Panchayat office after 12 people cast their votes. Angry with the incident, Congressmen reached the High Court at around 11:30 am demanding justice. On the orders of the High Court, 10 District Panchayat members including Congress candidate Pushpa Negi were allowed to vote with police protection at around 1.30 pm. But the police could not trace the five kidnapped members. In the evening, the DM told the High Court that she would send a proposal to the Election Commission to conduct the elections. At the same time, in the complaint given by SI Satish Upadhyay, it has been said that during the elections, some people came in two-three vehicles on the road near the District Panchayat premises. They were stopped and told that only members can go towards the District Panchayat by showing their certificates and Aadhar cards. During this, a dispute broke out between the two parties present on the spot. An attempt was made to remove them. After some time, both the parties said that their members were missing. SP Dr. Jagdish Chandra said that a case has been registered against unknown persons under sections 140 (3), 174, 221 and 223 of the BNS. The five Zila Panchayat members are being searched for.
