Incidents of landslides are also increasing. In view of this, Kedarnath Yatra has been postponed till 14th August. Along with this, the journey to Badrinath and Hemkund Sahib has also been banned. The journey to Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham is already closed. In this way, the Chardham Yatra has been badly affected due to rain in Uttarakhand.
Chamoli DM Sandeep Tiwari, while giving information, said that it is raining continuously in the district. Due to which incidents of landslides are increasing. Due to which the Badrinath Highway is getting obstructed again and again. Especially in the areas of Bhanerpani, Kameda, the highway is getting obstructed due to landslides. In view of which the administration has taken a big decision.
Chamoli DM Sandeep Tiwari said that in view of the safety of the passengers, the journey to Badrinath and Hemkund Sahib has been banned till August 14. Apart from this, all the trekking sites and routes have been banned. He said that the district administration is committed to the safety of the passengers. He has also appealed to the Chardham pilgrims to stay safe. Chamoli DM Sandeep Tiwari said that the district administration is keeping an eye on the situation. Continuous efforts are being made to open the obstructed highway. Along with the police, other teams are on the ground.
The district administration has deployed 24×7 machines on the NH danger zones of the National Highway. Along with this, the teams have been instructed to remain on alert mode. The district administration is also constantly monitoring the water level of the rivers. Along with this, the district administration has also appealed to the local people to keep distance from the banks of the rivers.
Let us tell you that it is raining heavily in the hilly and plain areas of Uttarakhand these days. The Meteorological Department has also issued a rain alert for the coming few days. The Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert from 12th to 15th August. In view of the rain alert in Chamoli district, holiday has been declared in schools from class 1 to 12th. Along with this, holiday has also been declared in Anganwadi centers on 13th and 14th August.
