Rudraprayag: A boulder suddenly fell on a van near Shivanandi on the Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway. Due to which a woman travelling in the vehicle died. While, four people including the driver were injured. With the help of local people, the police sent all the injured to the District Hospital Rudraprayag for treatment. It is being told that the vehicle was going from Dewal to Dehradun.
A huge boulder fell on the van: Traveling in the mountains these days is not free from danger. It cannot be said when death will rain from the mountain during the rain. On Tuesday, i.e. 12th August, around 1 pm, as soon as the Eco vehicle number UK 07 TD 8629 coming from Gauchar reached near Shivanandi, a huge boulder suddenly fell from the top of the hill. The vehicle came under its grip.
60-year-old woman died: The vehicle got damaged after being hit by the boulder. Due to which a 60-year-old woman travelling in the vehicle lost her life. While, four people including the driver Mahavir Singh resident of Dewal (Chamoli), Shambhuram son of Madanaram resident of Khetabhauragarh, Dewal (Chamoli), Viral Patel son of Dinesh Bhai Patel resident of Gujarat and a young woman were injured.
On receiving the information of the accident, the police reached the spot from Gholtir outpost. Where with the help of local people, all the four injured were sent to the district hospital for treatment. Where the injured are being treated. This accident was so dangerous that the vehicle was shattered. The boulder was also heavy.
“The boulder that suddenly fell from the hill hit the vehicle, due to which this accident happened. After filling the Panchnama of the deceased woman, the postmortem process will be done.” – Manoj Negi, Kotwali Inspector
2 people have also died due to boulder falling in Pauri: Incidents of stone falling have occurred at many places in Uttarakhand. On August 4, a boulder fell on a Bolero vehicle coming from Dugadda to Kotdwar carrying passengers near Siddhbali barrier on Pauri-Kotdwar-Meerut National Highway.
This crushed the vehicle badly. Due to which the passengers sitting in the vehicle were also badly crushed. In this accident, 2 people died inside the vehicle itself. Whereas, 4 people were badly injured in the accident. Apart from this, recently 3 bike riders had a narrow escape due to falling debris from the mountain of Mansa Devi in Haridwar.
