Dehradun: Election Commission of India has taken a big action and delisted 6 registered unrecognized political parties of Uttarakhand i.e. Registered Unrecognized Political Parties (RUPPs). Election Commission of India had issued this order on 9th August.
The 6 delisted parties include those parties which have neither contested elections in the last 6 years nor their offices could not be found during physical verification. However, Election Commission has given one more chance to the 6 delisted RUPPs. That is, within 30 days of the issuance of the order, these parties can present their case by making a final appeal.

Hamari Jan Manch Party, District-Dehradun
Maidani Kranti Dal, District-Dehradun
Praja Mandal Party, District Pauri Garhwal
Rashtriya Gram Vikas Party District Haridwar
Rashtriya Jan Sahay Dal District Dehradun
Commission issued notice to 11 parties in the second phase: Along with delisting these 6 parties, the Election Commission of India has issued show cause notices to 11 such registered unrecognized political parties in Uttarakhand in the second phase, which have been inactive for the last 6 years. These are all those parties which have not participated in a single election in the six years from the year 2019 till now. The parties have been given time till 27 August 2025 to respond to this notice. As per the order of the Commission, out of the unrecognized political parties registered in Uttarakhand, there are 11 parties which are not able to fulfill the necessary conditions. The decision on the final delisting of these parties will be taken by the Election Commission of India.
Let us tell you that the registration of political parties (national/state/unrecognized) in the country is done by the Election Commission under Section 29A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. The objective of the Election Commission of India in this entire exercise is to purify the political system and promote transparency in the electoral process.
