The central government has approved a plan of Rs 125 crore for landslide treatment at four other places in the state including Mansa Devi hill. Under this, an amount of Rs 4.5 crore (for preparing DPR) has also been released in the first phase.
The State Disaster Management Authority and Uttarakhand Landslide Mitigation and Management Center had sent the proposals to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). This amount will be used to prevent landslides on Mansa Devi hill. This route is used as an alternative route during the Kanwar Yatra.
Similarly, the Galogi Hydroelectric Project route is affected by landslides in Mussoorie and Charton Lodge in Nainital, where treatment work can be done. Bahuguna Nagar in Karnaprayag and Khotila-Ghatdhar in Pithoragarh district are sensitive to landslides, where treatment work will be done
CM expressed gratitude
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Home Minister on behalf of the state government and the people of the state for this cooperation. He said that this project is a decisive initiative towards a long-term solution in the landslide-affected areas of the state. He has selected five sensitive sites highly affected by landslides on priority basis.
