The fate of 32580 candidates will be decided on July 31 in the three-tier Uttarakhand Panchayat elections. The State Election Commission has intensified its preparations. Counting centers have been set at the level of all the districts. This time the commission will also release the election results through the website.
In the second phase of the three-tier Panchayat elections, many hill districts received heavy votes along with rain. The Election Commission released the figures of 70 percent voting in the state. These include 65.50 percent male and 74.50 percent female voters. Voting started at 4709 polling stations in 40 development blocks of the state from 8 am on Monday. 21,57,199 voters were registered for this phase.
Despite rain in many hilly areas, the enthusiasm of the voters was worth seeing. Crowds gathered at many polling stations throughout the day. There was bumper voting not only in the hilly but also in the plain districts of Dehradun, Udham Singh Nagar. State Election Commissioner Sushil Kumar said that voting was completed peacefully in all the development blocks.
The fate of 17,829 candidates of the first phase and 14,751 candidates of the second phase has been sealed in the ballot box. Now the counting of votes will begin at 8 am on July 31. 68 percent voting took place in the first phase. In the 2019 elections, 69.59 percent voting took place, whereas this time this figure is expected to go down a bit
