The result of the effective implementation of the New Education Policy-2020 is that the digital infrastructure has expanded rapidly in Uttarakhand from primary education to higher education. Also, significant progress has been registered at all levels of education. The focus of the state government is to provide skill-based education in the state so that the youth of the state can play a strong role in the global economy.
This was shared by the Education Minister of the state, Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, with the media after participating in the “All India Education Conference, 2025” organized at Bharat Mandapam Campus, New Delhi.
He said that in this program organized under the chairmanship of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP)-2025, educationists, policy makers, teachers, industry veterans and government representatives from across the country came together on one platform and reviewed the progress of the National Education Policy-2020 and discussions were held to make education more accessible in future.
Dr. Rawat told the media that the Uttarakhand government is engaged in developing a high-level educational environment in the state in accordance with the recommendations of NEP-2020. As a result, digital infrastructure has expanded rapidly in the state from primary to higher education.
He said that Uttarakhand is the first state in the country to first implement NEP-2020 and started ‘Balvatika’ classes in about 4 thousand Anganwadi centers at the pre-primary level, which is being operated successfully. Smart classes and modern laboratories have been set up at the primary and secondary level, so that students are receiving experimental education along with online study.
Similarly, the curriculum in higher education has been prepared in accordance with NEP-2020. In which Choice Based Credit System, Multiple Entry-Exit System and Academic Bank of Credit System have been implemented. So that students can choose subjects and universities of their choice. Also, you can get a certificate after the first year, diploma after the second year and degree after the third year.
The state government has implemented vocational education from class 6 in the state, which includes coding, computer programming and other skill-based courses. In higher education, new vocational courses have been started by signing MoUs with reputed educational and industrial houses across the country. Dr. Rawat said that the government has started special training programs for teachers so that the educational environment in educational institutions can be further improved
