Rajendra Singh (38), a candidate for the post of Pradhan in Devalgwad Gram Panchayat of Chamoli development block, died. In view of this, the Election Commission has postponed the election for the post of Pradhan here. Rajendra Singh was ill for the last few days.
According to local villagers, Rajendra Singh, son of Nain Singh, was taken to Tharali Hospital when his health deteriorated, from where he was referred to a higher center when his condition became critical. He died in the hospital during treatment on Saturday. Rajendra Singh’s death has caused a wave of mourning in his village Devalgwad. He has left behind his wife and two small children.
On learning about his death, the election officer of the development block, Ashwini Gautam, has issued a letter announcing the postponement of the election for the post of Pradhan in Devalgwad. However, the election process for other posts will continue
