Luxor: A woman under the Kotwali area was not only beaten and thrown out of the house by her husband and in-laws for not fulfilling the dowry demand, but she was also locked in a room and beaten up. The husband broke the relationship by giving triple talaq in front of the family members. The victim’s uncle has reached the police station and given a written complaint of the entire matter and demanded action.
According to the information, Abdul Sattar, a resident of Nagar Panchayat Sultanpur Adampur, told that his brother Zafar, who is a disabled person’s daughter Yasmin, got married to Gulrez son Ahsan resident of Ward-08 Laksar on 22 April 2024 according to Muslim customs. A total of more than Rs 28 lakh was spent in the wedding, including household items, gold and silver jewelry, seven lakh rupees as a gift for the car.
It is alleged that after marriage, Yasmin’s in-laws started harassing her for demanding additional dowry of Rs 15 lakh. Her father-in-law Ahsan, mother-in-law Saista, husband Gulrez, brother-in-law Danish, sister-in-law Sania and Shama, along with many relatives, constantly harassed her mentally and physically. In February 2025, Yasmin gave birth to a daughter. Due to which the attitude of the in-laws worsened even more.
The victim’s uncle told the police that in March she was beaten and thrown out of her in-laws’ house. After the intervention of some relatives, she was sent back, but the situation worsened further. According to the victim’s uncle Abdul Sattar, Yasmin was divorced by her husband Gulrez by saying “talaq-talaq-talaq” three times on the instructions of the family. Before this, all the accused together beat her up badly. She was locked in a room and held hostage.
In this regard, the victim Yasmin said that when she talked to her husband about marriage registration, he got angry. He also started beating her while holding her hostage. According to Yasmin, on July 15, at around three in the afternoon, her husband Gulrez and other family members locked her in a room. Then he also gave triple talaq.
Abdul Sattar has filed a complaint in Kotwali Laksar and demanded strict action against the accused. Kotwali SSI Manoj Gairola said that the matter has come to his notice. The victim woman’s husband has been arrested. The matter is being investigated. Strict action will be taken against the culprits.
