Almora: Development in the mountains rises very slowly. So slowly that even after the order from the government, it takes many years for it to reach the common man. Officers stuck in files do not even understand the pain of the mountains. The link road connecting the toks of Bhitarakote area of Someshwar block in Almora is a direct example of this. The government has approved the construction of the road here but the officers could not finalize the land in four years.
This road approved for a long time in Almora district has not been started yet due to the incomplete process of allocation of civil land. The villagers of the related areas are facing a lot of trouble in movement. More than 300 people of Kafartok, Lalratok, Madanpur tok of Bhitarakote Gram Panchayat of Someshwar block are facing trouble. Local villagers say that people are migrating from here due to lack of road. Even after this, no efforts are being made for road construction. There is deep resentment among the people who have been waiting for road construction for years. Villagers say that this entire area is important from the point of view of vegetable production.
Due to lack of road, villagers are not able to find a market to sell vegetables and other products. Approval has been received for the construction of the road in the year 2021. About 42 lakh rupees have also been approved for this, but due to non-availability of civil land, their construction work is not being done. Villagers have demanded to build the road soon.
Lalar Tok has the highest number of farmers. From beekeeping to goat rearing, they do farming work. Due to lack of road, there is a problem in taking the products to the market. If the road is built, everyone will benefit. – Lalit Pandey, farmer
